The past three decades have witnessed China’s dramatic transformation from a largely agrarian economy to an urban society with a highly skilled labor force in manufacturing, and increasingly in the high-tech industry. Siwei, a noted economist and former vice chair of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, has played a key role in his country’s economic transformation over the last 20 years. As the concurrent chair of the International Finance Forum, Beijing, and president of the Association of Management Modernization, China, he is intimately acquainted with a range of domestic and global issues confronting China today and will provide a unique, insider’s perspective on the country’s outlook for the next five years. In particular, he will discuss strategies for China to sustain an adequate growth trajectory.
