Chapel of Fierce Protectors
The Newark Museum presents an exhibition of ferocious and fantastic deities in Tibetan Buddhism.
Where
The Chapel of Fierce Protectors will be reinstalled in harmony with the Chapel of the Masters as specific protectors are affiliated with particular Tibetan Buddhist religious orders. These ferocious and fantastic deities wield a range of ritual implements—demon-pinning stakes, skull cups and bone-aprons. Images of these deities and examples of the ritual implements used to perform pacification rituals (to cure illness) or even wealth-attracting ceremonies will be displayed.
