Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.

禪宗是中國佛教的一個宗派，形成于唐初，至唐末五代逐漸衰敗。它提出“明心見性”為綱領的宗義，在信仰、教義、組織形態、修行方式等方面對 傳統佛教實行全面變革，具有“宗教革命”的作用與意義，成為推動唐代思想、文化發展的重要因素。即使在其總體形勢已經衰敗之後，仍在思想、文化諸領域造成 廣泛、巨大、持久的影響，直到晚近。具體到文學領域，這種影響及於作家的思想觀念、行為理念、生活方式以及創作的思維方法、藝術技巧、語言運用等諸多層 面。唐宋以降文學的發展，特別是文人創作，禪宗發揮了重大的積極作用。
