Lord Wei serves in the House of Lords as the youngest and only active Chinese peer. He is the first British born person of Chinese origin to have become a member of the Upper House. Lord Wei is a social entrepreneur who is interested in social reform and developing civil society solutions to problems. He has just been invited to be a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in the class of 2013. As a British Chinese, Lord Wei is active in the promotion of trade and cultural ties between the UK and China, and is the Chair to the All Party Parliamentary Group on East Asian Business and also as a Treasurer to the All Party Parliamentary Group for Trade & Investment. Lord Wei also serves as the Treasurer to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Chinese in Britain. Lord Wei was a former advisor with Her Majesty’s Government on the Big Society initiative that aims to create a climate that empowers local people and communities and building a "big society". He currently works with the Community Foundation Network to develop local responses to the Big Society.
