Assessing China’s Impact on Canada-U.S. Relations

Join the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States for a talk by specialists about China's impact on Canada-US Relations.

China’s rapid economic development has propelled the country to an ever-increasing level of influence and power in East Asia and globally. Its rise has been closely monitored by the United States and Canada, particularly Chinese investment and Chinese exports into North America. Relatively little attention has been paid, however, to the impact of China’s growing clout in the Canada-U.S. relationship. What effect does China have on Canada-U.S. relations, in particular military security? How has China changed the dynamic of Canada-U.S. trade relations and what is in store for the coming years? Does the Chinese market influence the development of natural resources in Canada, particularly those currently destined to the U.S. market?

Please join the Canada Institute and China Environment Forum of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the editors of International Journal for a timely examination of the evolving economic, political, and environmental relationship between Canada, the United States, and China. The event will feature the authors of a special issue of International Journal who have written on the impact of China on Canada-U.S. relations.
