In October the U.S. and Taiwan will hold, under the auspices of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the U.S. (TECRO), the 2nd US-Taiwan Digital Economy Forum (DEF), which was launched on June 2, 2015 as a high-level, multi-stakeholder platform for discussion of digital economy policy issues of importance to the U.S. and Taiwan. The DEF provides the opportunity to cooperate more closely in promoting an open Internet, the free flow of data across borders, expanded access and adoption of information and communications technologies (ICTs), and the further development of the global digital economy.
