Tang receives ACLS support for visual cultures project
Professor Xiaobing Tang, now chair of the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, received a grant from the American Council of Learned Societies to support the April 2007 conference Scenes and Visions: Approaches to 20th Century Chinese Visual Culture. ACLS made the grant in its "New Perspectives on Chinese Culture and Society" series, which is funded by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation. The conference featured sixteen presentations and was attended by more than one hundred people.
