Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. Cost: FREE. The admission to the Japanese American National Museum and the docent tour will be covered by U.S.-China Institute.
Format: There is a presentation, Q&A session and a docent-led tour.
In this workshop, educators will:
- Learn about the Japanese American experience from the early 1860s through WWII incarceration and the post-war era.
- Practice interpretation strategies to support students in understanding Japanese American history through primary sources.
- Discover resources available through JANM for classroom use, including digital curriculum, collections-based activities, oral histories, and more.
