Asian Comics Exhibition at Bowers Museum

Time: 1:30 PM-4:00 PM

Location: 2002 North Main Street, Santa Ana, California 92706

Cost: FREE. Admission to both the permanent and special exhibitions, workshop and the docent tour ($45) will be covered by U.S.-China Institute.

Format: There is a presentation and Q&A session from 1:30 to 2:45 pm.

Asian Comics: Evolution of an Art Form debuts at Bowers Museum, showcasing the largest collection of Asian comic artworks ever displayed in America. Curated by Paul Gravett with international advisors, the exhibition features over 400 works, including traditional woodblock prints, scroll paintings, and modern digital media from countries like Japan, China, and India. Highlighting influential creators such as Osamu Tezuka and Zao Dao, it explores the profound impact of Asian comics on cinema, animation, and more, while offering an interactive makerspace for visitors to engage creatively.

This workshop is in collaboration with Bowers Museum and sponsored by the USC U.S.-China Institute. It is offered in partnership with the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia and with support from the Freeman Foundation.
