Dr. Alex Peng

President and Chief Financial Officer, TAL Education Group

Dr. Alex Peng is President and Chief Financial Officer of TAL Education Group, a leading global education technology company. Since becoming President in January 2022, he has helped lead TAL through a period of transformation, guiding the company’s strategy, global initiatives, and international development as education is being reshaped by technology and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Peng joined TAL in March 2020 as Vice President of Strategy and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in November 2021. Prior to joining TAL, he served from 2011 to 2020 as General Manager of Business Strategy for Microsoft’s Greater China Region, where he worked at the intersection of technology, business growth, and strategic innovation in one of the world’s most dynamic markets. Earlier in his career, he spent ten years with McKinsey & Company in Beijing, serving as a consultant and later as a partner, advising leading Chinese and multinational organizations on strategy, management, and growth.

Beyond his corporate leadership, Dr. Peng is deeply engaged in education and cross-cultural learning. He serves as a trustee on the Board of Trustees of the International School of Beijing. He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Harvard University and earned his doctorate in mathematics from Princeton University.
