I watched the film Tae Gu-Ki, and I got it from my neighborhood library! Wow, was this an emotional movie. The movie focuses on two brothers drafted to fight in the Korean War and follows their relationship and the things they go through throughout the trying time in Korean history. The movie is very powerful and does a great job showing how war effects the common people living in the areas of conflict. It was, however, very gruesome in the battle scenes that I don't think some of my students could handle. The movie would be useful to show the emotional turmoil of war and how it pulls families apart. It could also be good to show how hard each side fought in this war, and how much was lost during the war, but at the end result of a stalemate which begs the question, was it all worth it?
I've never been exposed to Korean films before, so getting to see a movie that was so well done and so moving was a great experience.
