Learn about the history and art of penjing, or miniature landscapes, and how to care for them in this series of informative talks. Penjing is the ancient Chinese art of translating the world landscape into the minuscule and can been traced back to 221 BCE. Chinese gardens are a form of miniaturization, capturing mountains, lakes, waterfalls and all of nature in a smaller scale. Owners of Chinese gardens would have a collection of penjing, enjoying the idea of miniature within miniature.
