Yin Yu Tang: The Voices and Spaces of a Chinese Home

Built by a wealthy merchant in the late Qing dynasty, Yin Yu Tang is a 200-year-old, 16-bedroom house that originally stood in a small mountain village in southeastern China.  Today, the preserved and rebuilt structure is part of the Peabody Essex Museum and is open to the public.  Berliner will discuss the architecture of Yin Yu Tang, the generations of the Huang family who occupied it, and the impact of history on this fascinating Chinese
