China, the world's largest carbon emitter, is phasing out domestic coal consumption and investing in renewable energy systems. China's leaders understand that transforming its economy from one dependent on highly polluting heavy industry to one focused on clean energy, services, and innovation is essential, but the transition also faces fundamental economic and political challenges.
At a lunchtime discussion on April 15, 2019, Barbara Finamore, senior attorney and Asia senior strategic director at the Natural Resources Defense Council, will share insights from her new book on China's energy transition. Professor of Law Alex Wang will lead the conversation.
