Exhibition

Visualizing Revolution: Propaganda Posters from the People's Republic of China, 1949-1989

Image

Formal Opening on April 10, 6 - 8 pm
Katharine Burnett and Yang Peiming, Guest Curators

The bulk of the objects will be poster art, but also included
will be some big character posters (dazibao), original paintings, paper
cuts, woodblock prints, and political documents relating to the posters.

The exhibition represents an opportunity to study these important
political and aesthetically fascinating objects, and to help us understand
an important and formative period in China's history.  The exhibition will
be accompanied by a scholarly symposium which will bring top scholars of
this material in the US to UC Davis.
