A special Evening with Liao Yiwu

Image

Come and join a special evening performance by Liao Yiwu.

Liao Yiwu is a prominent Chinese writer, poet, musician, and performer. After the 1989 Democracy movement, Liao was imprisoned as a "counterrevolutionary" when he circulated his poem, "Massacre." Through his art, he gives voice to and raises public awareness about individuals on the margins of Chinese society.

Liao's new book, God is Red: The Secret Story of How Christianity Survived and Flourished in Communist China, profiles the lives of dozens of Chinese Christians, prociding a glimpse into the underground world of belief in China. Liao's most well-known book is Corpse Walker - Real Life Stories: China From the Bottom Up (2008), a compilation of twenty-seveb oral historians that opens a window into the lives of ordinary, often outcast, Chinese men and women.
