China’s continued ascension presents policy challenges for both Beijing and Washington. President Barack Obama will make his first trip to China from November 15-18, where he will address a multitude of issues ranging from climate change to trade and the economy to military ties between the two nations.
Kenneth Lieberthal, a Brookings expert and director of the John L. Thornton China Center, who served as a special assistant to the president for national security and senior director for Asia at the White House National Security Council from 1998 through 2000, and Senior Politico Editor Fred Barbash will take questions about the president’s trip in this edition of the Scouting Report.
Registration is encouraged, but not required. You may submit advance questions to ScoutingReport@brookings.edu.
