The first individual is a farmer named Peng Tian who came from Mao's hometown in Hunan. His dream is to impersonate Mao on the big screen. Wearing the Mao suit, he decided to study acting in the Beijing Film Academy with the support of his family but without any idea of what the future held in store for him.
The second individual is a housewife named Chen Yan, who was born in Mianyang, Sichuan. Twenty years ago, her mother discovered her resemblance to Mao. Although it was considered taboo for a woman to play Mao, a god figure, she wanted to give it a try in the new millennium.
