Image

The Open Fist Theatre Company is presenting THE GOOD WOMAN OF SETZUAN, written by Bertolt Brecht, directed by Charles Otte with original music by Elizabeth Swados (who wrote the Broadway hit RUNAWAYS). This re-imagined version of Brecht’s classic play is alternately humorous and shocking in it look at how society deals with poveriy and philanthropy. Set in an imaginary city in Setzuan in the pre-communist China between world wars, the play explores themes of good and evil; love and betrayal; and male/female identity. Although serious in it essence, Brecht uses song, dance and style to create and ofter humorous and always provocative look at how humanity deals with love, money and social injustice.
