Formosa Betrayed: A Hollywood Take on Taiwan

Image

Director Adam Kane (Heroes, Pushing Daisies, The Mentalist) will join Taiwanese American actor/writer/producer Will Tiao in a special discussion about the soon to be released film Formosa Betrayed. Set for release in late February and starring James Van Der Beek (Dawson's Creek, Varsity Blues, Mercy) and Tzi Ma (Rush Hour, 24, Fringe), Formosa Betrayed takes a look at Taiwan's pro-independence politics, conspiracies and scandals from a unique insider's perspective. Tiao's years of research into the brutal techniques once employed by the Republic of China government to silence Taiwanese democracy supporters has become the basis for the controversial new film. Formosa Betrayed marks the very first time an American movie has explored the contentious issue of Taiwan independence. The group will discuss the true events that inspired the film as well as the challenges faced in bringing these stories to the big screen. Additionally, they will preview exclusive footage from Formosa Betrayed and answers questions from the audience.
