Film Screening on Labor Organizing in China

Image

The Sigur Center for Asian Studies at George Washington University presents a film screening on labor organizing in China, with a Q&A featuring the director Huang Wenhai and China Labour Bulletin's Han Dongfang.

Join us for a film screening of We the Workers (condensed version), followed by Q&A discussion with the Director, Huang Wenhai, and China Labour Bulletin's Han Dongfang.

Shot over a six-year period in the industrial hub of south China, We the Workers follows activists as they find common ground with workers, and negotiate with local officials and factory owners over wages and working conditions. Threats, attacks and detention are a daily part of their lives. The epic portrait captures the emergence of a nascent working class consciousness and labor movement in China.
