The second part of Jeffrey Lau’s comic-action epic finds the bandit Joker (Stephen Chow) traveling back in time to discover his true identity as the Monkey King, save his immortal lover, and battle the evil King Bull and his army of giant fleas. As in A Chinese Odyssey Part One (screened earlier in the day), Chow’s over-the-top performance puts a modern spin on an oft-told tale.
