Join us for a screening and discussion of the award-winning documentary Blessings: The Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet. Discussion follows with a rare visit from renowned Buddhist teacher, Tsoknyi Rinpoche III, and filmmaker Victress Hitchcock. The film documents the lives of the Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns—3000 remarkable women who live and practice an ancient yogic tradition in remote nunneries and hermitages in the Nangchen region of Eastern Tibet.
Speaker's Bio:
Tsoknyi Rinpoche III was born in 1966 in Nubri, Nepal. He is one of the world’s most admired Buddhist reincarnate lamas and is devoted to teaching students internationally about the innermost nature of mind in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
Victress Hitchcock has been directing award winning documentary and educational films for 40 years. She has been studying and practicing Buddhism for the same length of time. She is a graduate of the London Film School and a recipient of a Creative Fellowship in Media from the Colorado Council on the Arts. Currently, she is completing a project due out in June, 2012 which is also being produced in association with Tsoknyi Rinpoche entitled WHEN THE IRON BIRD FLIES: Tibetan Buddhism Arrives in the West.
