UCLA faculty, students and the concerned public are welcome to a special discussion with Ambassador Wu Jianmin on a number of pressing issues, such as: changing US-China relations, challenges and opportunities in the Asia Pacific, and the impact of American politics on the world.

Mr. Wu Jianmin has worked in the field of international diplomacy for over four decades and been part of China's development into a global powerhouse.  He began his career as interpreter for China's top leaders, including Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and Deng Xiaoping. In 1971 he was appointed a member of China's first Permanent Mission to the United Nations.  Mr. Wu rose to become China's ambassador to France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, and is the former president of China's Foreign Affairs University.
