China's Urban Future

Image

China is currently undergoing one of the largest building booms in history in its dramatic transformation to become a global superpower. In 2010, China had surpassed the United States as the largest construction market and will account for one-fifth of the world's building industry by 2020. The new cities under construction will host millions of new jobs and residents as China’s urban population grows to a projected 1.3 billion by 2030.

In all, within the next decade China's building market is expected to become a $2.5 trillion industry that will create new market opportunities for construction, real estate investments, and emergent technology applications. However, the more urgent matter at hand is how we can sustainably achieve urban growth today without compromising the environmental, social, and economic needs of tomorrow.

Asia Society Northern California is proud to co-host this program, which will feature:

Fiona Ma, California Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore
Alexis Wong, CEO of The Prometheus Investment Group and CEO of AGI Capital
Ellen Lou, Director of Urban Planning and Design at Skidmore Owings and Merrill
Alex Flores, Manager of Cisco Advanced Services, Smart + Connected Communities
James T. Caldwell, Board of the US-China Green Energy Council, CEO of E3 Regenesis Solutions

Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be provided. This discussion is co-sponsored by Asian Commercial Professionals, the Project Managment Institute-SF Bay Area Chapter, and the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco.
