A film by Ning Ying; China, 2001; Chinese with English subtitles; 52 minutes.
Every year during August and September, several thousand agricultural workers leave Sichuan by train for the long journey towards China's far western Xinjiang Autonomous Region, where endless cotton fields await the harvest. For many, it's the first time away from home and the first time on a train. A rare glimpse into the daily reality of Chinese peasants from poor interior regions, who speak openly and sincerely about their lives.
