Martin B. Gold introduces his new book Forbidden Citizens: Chinese Exclusion and the U.S. Congress: A Legislative History.  Forbidden Citizens recounts the long, shameful legislative history of the Chinese Exclusion Laws. Using the exact words of Senators and Representatives, this book chronicles the sad, disturbing legislative history of the Chinese exclusion laws, with many passages transcribed from the actual debates.
 
Martin Gold is a partner of Covington & Burling LLP and is the co-chair of firm's Government Affairs Practice Group.   Gold led the firm's pro-bono efforts in assisting the 1882 Project in successfully passing resolutions of the in US Congress (H Res. 683 and S. Res. 201) that expressed regret for passage of the Chinese exclusion laws.
