Description: A one-day symposium that will bring together policy makers, business people and academics to discuss emerging political and economic developments in the Asia-Pacific Region and the lesson and opportunities these provide for Australia and the US.

Issues to be issued include:

    * Evolving political architecture in the Asia-Pacific region;
    * Strategic challenges in the 21st Century
    * Australian and US: perceptions and interests in the region
    * Asia- Pacific: Models for Economic Engagement
    * Australia's assets as a bulkhead in Asia.

The Symposium will provide an opportunity to demonstrate Australia's store of intellectual capital on Asia and our capacity to contribute to stronger regional ties. Governments will have an opportunity to network with Americans with a stake in the Asia-Pacific region to share perspectives and promote Australia as an integral part of the region, as a regional headquarters and/or source of knowledge and expertise on the region.

Audience: Government, business, and academics from Australia, the United States and thewider Asia-Pacific region.
