Asian Pop Spectacle & New Political Space: HOCC (何韻詩) Live - A Presentation and Conversation

Denise Ho (HOCC), Canto-pop diva, actress, LGBT activist, and icon of political defiance, grew up in Hong Kong and Montreal. Her unconventional musical performances deliver strong social messages and challenge gender norms, and have captivated a multi-generational audience in Asia. She supported students in the Umbrella Movement and has been politically resilient. BBC listed her in the “one hundred influential and inspirational women of 2016.” She will show past video footage and a DVD of her recent concert “Dear Friend” at the Hong Kong Coliseum where 48,000 supporters and non-corporate sponsors crowd funded her return to the stage. Her presentation will be followed by a live session and conversation with the audience.
