Jean Kwak's Girl In Translation chronicles the story of Kimberly, who immigrates from China to the US at the age of five. Though enduring a life of poverty and hardship, she appears as a successful and ambitious student. The story brings to live the dilemma many immigrants face, between succeeding in America, their own personal desires, and duty to their family.
