Accumulating Culture: The Collections of Emperor Huizong with Patricia Buckley Ebrey

The Song emperor Huizong (r. 1100–1125) amassed unparalleled collections of paintings, calligraphies and ancient bronzes. University of Washington professor Patricia Buckley Ebrey places this accomplishment in historical and cultural context and shows how court intervention in the art market was both influenced by and had an impact on the production, circulation and conception of art outside the court.

Bringing together some of the most compelling thinkers on a given cultural subject, Pivotal Perspectives is a timely and innovative forum that addresses pressing issues in art and society.
