Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.

Dr. Ping Sun is an Assistant Professor of Research in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. As the director of information technology, he is heading a team to design and develop the web-based operations to facilitate internal communications between faculties and staffs in IPR, the USC Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Center (TTURC), and other projects. Sponsored by TTURC developmental and TTURC faculty development grants, he is developing and testing Internet-based smoking prevention programs. His current research focuses on web-based interventions to prevent behavioral risk factors of cardiovascular disease and cancer. His other research interests include epidemiological research of pathophysiological processes in subclinical atherosclerosis.
