Zhuang Ailing earned her Ph.D in sociology from Nanjing University and a Master of Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.  She has worked for several NGOs in China including Amity Foundation as Director of Special Education Department, Christian Blind Mission International as China Program Coordinator, and Orbis International as Deputy Country Director.

Dr. Zhuang has rich experience in rural development, elder care, NPO capacity building, and programs for the disabled.  She has implemented over 500 programs, raised over 50 million RMB for NPO programs, conducted over 30 training courses, and facilitated dozens of NPO exchanges and research projects. She co-founded the Crime and Prevention Research Center, Nanjing University in 2002. Later in 2004, she founded Shanghai NPO Development Center.
