Visualizing Revolution: Propaganda Posters from the People's Republic of China, 1949-1989

The exhibition will feature propaganda art from 1949-1989 from the collection of the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Center of Mr. Yang Peiming.

Formal Opening on April 10, 6 - 8 pm

The bulk of the objects will be poster art, but also included
will be some big character posters (dazibao), original paintings, paper
cuts, woodblock prints, and political documents relating to the posters.

The exhibition represents an opportunity to study these important
political and aesthetically fascinating objects, and to help us understand
an important and formative period in China's history.  The exhibition will
be accompanied by a scholarly symposium which will bring top scholars of
this material in the US to UC Davis.
