Daniel Lynch is Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Southern California. His current research focuses on how Chinese intellectual and political elites are thinking qualitatively about China's future, in five different areas: domestic politics, international role, the techno-economy, state management of culture, and the environment. He is the author of Rising China and Asian Democratization: Socialization to “Global Culture” in the Political Transformations of Thailand, China, and Taiwan (Stanford University Press, 2006), and After the Propaganda State: Media, Politics, and “Thought Work” in Reformed China (Stanford University Press, 1999).
