Trace the rise of democratic ideas and develop an understanding of the historical roots of current world issues, especially as they pertain to international relations. To acquaint the student with chronological development of Japanese society and provide a HYPERLINK "http://www.globaled.org/japanproject/lessons/lesson03_1.php"vocabulary of terms significant in Japanese history Instructions to Teacher This is a three-day lesson that can be modified to the class you teach or the particular needs of your students. This is a great lesson to use when introducing your class to location and history of Asia. I wanted to create a lesson around the idea of a board game, like Jeopardy. You will need to make copies of the attached handouts. You will also need to create a board like the Jeopardy one and use the information that is on the handouts. Day 1 Introduce students to the geographical location of Japan. Use your World History books and other geographical material the might be readily at hand to illustrate to the students the location of Asia. Pick one of the maps that best helps the students have a mental picture of its location relative to where your class might be. Have them draw and color it. Use it as student work that you can display around the classroom. Most importantly, it will give students more time through out the lesson or even longer to continue to familiarize themselves with maps and where Japan is. Day 2 Give a lecture using the maps from the previous day and the information cards from the attached handouts. Make sure that this information is written on the board and enough time is given to the students so they can transfer this information in to their notebooks. Do not write all of the information is on the board, only information that you want to make sure you highlight and want to emphasize to the students how important it is. Remember that the students do not need to be familiar with Japan or the Japanese culture before they begin this lesson or for the game, but it would greatly improve the students chances of winning the game. Day 3-4 PROCEDURE 1. Divide the class into five or six groups of four to six students each. Give each group member a copy of all of the handouts that have the set of activity cards. (All the game material must be reproduced.) Distribute Handouts 1-4. 2. Instruct the students that they are going to play a fast moving game and that they need to pay close attention because the winning group is going to get a grand price (teacher decides): a. To learn about Japanese history and culture. Tell them that following the game they will get a quiz on the information contained on the activity cards. The game ends when all of the cards have been chosen b. To get the most points by the end of the game (the teacher may want to offer extra credit points HYPERLINK "http://www.globaled.org/japanproject/lessons/lesson03_1.php"as an incentive). 3. Distribute Handout 3. Instruct the students to familiarize themselves with the chronology sheet and how they relates each other. 4. Have each student roll the die to establish the order of play within the group. 5. Once all of the questions have been asked, count the total points the groups have received. The group with the most points wins the game. 6. Collect all material or the teacher might elect to let the students keep all of the handouts. Assessment Develop a quiz using the handouts. The quiz is more of a formality for the students, this will give the students a sense of closure to the lesson and a better clearer picture to the teacher of how much they learned about Japanese history. /01CDKLVWXH ʼvbQJ?.!hYh%OB*CJ^JaJphhYh%OCJaJ hYh%O h%O5CJOJPJQJ\aJ&h2h%O5CJOJPJQJ\aJ)h2h%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph#h%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph h Zh%OCJOJPJQJaJh%OCJOJPJQJaJhxCJOJPJQJaJ h2hXCJOJPJQJaJ&h2hX5CJOJPJQJ\aJ hY5CJOJPJQJ\aJ 1DLWXI ! 9 s$ddd$If[$\$a$gd%Oddd$ &P#$/If[$\$gd%O & Fd$ &P#$/Ifgd%O & F$Ifgd%O $Ifgd%Od$ &P#$/Ifgd%O$d$ &P#$/Ifa$gd%O H I x ! 9 ڽq\\J9 h'h%OCJOJPJQJaJ#hxh%O5CJOJPJQJaJ)h"?h%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph#h"?h%OCJOJPJQJ\aJ h%O5CJOJPJQJ\aJ&hXh%O5>*CJOJPJQJaJjhYh%OU hYh%OjhYh%OU#h%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph)hXh%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph hXh%OCJOJPJQJaJ E c BHQddd$ &P#$/If[$\$gd%O & Fddd$ &P#$/If[$\$gd%Oddd$ &P#$/If[$\$gd%O & Fddd$ &P#$/If[$\$gd%O D E b c ABHu&k TXὨ}lllajhYh%OU h2h%OCJOJPJQJaJ&h2h%O5CJOJPJQJ\aJ,hxh%O5B*CJOJPJQJaJph)h2h%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph#h%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph#hxh%O5CJOJPJQJaJ h'h%OCJOJPJQJaJh%OCJOJPJQJaJ$xz{|Ͻh%O,hxh%O5B*CJOJPJQJaJph)h2h%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph#h%OB*CJOJPJQJaJph h2h%OCJOJPJQJaJjhYh%OUjhYh%OU hYh%O{]Vkd$$If0|()(Z t 6P )634a$d$ &P#$/Ifa$gd%Odd$ &P#$/If[$gd%Oddd$ &P#$/If[$\$gd%O gd%O&1h:p%O/ =!"#$%DyK yK xhttp://www.globaled.org/japanproject/lessons/lesson03_1.phpDyK yK xhttp://www.globaled.org/japanproject/lessons/lesson03_1.php{$$If!vh5(5Z#v(#vZ:V t 6P )6,5(5Z34 666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~ OJPJQJ_HmH nH sH tH J`J XNormal dCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRi@R Table Normal4 l4a (k ( No List dod XDefault1$7$8$H$-B*CJOJQJ^J_HaJmH phsH tH D@D X List Paragraph ^m$PK![Content_Types].xmlj0 u$Nwc$ans@8JbVKS(.Y$8MVgLYS]"(U֎_o[gv; f>KH|;\XV!]օ Oȥsh]Hg3߶PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!\theme/theme/theme1.xmlYOoE#F{o'NDuر i-q;N3' G$$DAč*iEP~wq4;{o?g^;N:$BR64Mvsi-@R4Œ mUb V*XX! cyg$w.Q "@oWL8*Bycjđ0蠦r,[LC9VbX*x_yuoBL͐u_.
