I think this is a great class you have there. It is actually something I was interested to find out, because I know it was not invented in China. However, fortune cookies, at least in US, represent Chinese culture. The reading material you have is very interesting. I will steal this from you for my 3rd graders as a non-fiction reading. They can do some research and organize a debate with the two possibilities of fortune cookies.
