Ok, here is a very interesting article on the suicides on the Okinawa in the closing days of WWII. But its with a twist, the Okinawans' blame the Japanese for falsely convincing them to commit suicide. Great reading. Enjoy. From the pages of the New York Times. If you are not familar with Sapajou, let me introduce you to him. He was White Russian living as a refugee in Shanghai during the 1930s and made his living as politcal cartoonist. His work is simply the Icon of the era. I can't think of anyone who even comes close to capturing the feel, the essence of the era of East China during the years leading up to WWII. nb
