Japanese Tea Garden at Woodley Park

I recently went to the Japanese Tea Gardens, located at an odd location, in the middle of Van Nuys , close to Balboa Park. A lovely designed inner city oasis, this park enjoys the skillful blending of traditional Japanese landscaping with modern Occidental architecture, This park is an ode to a traditional Japanese garden, blending in the two forces of Yin & Yang.. Within this beautiful location, there is the exquisite beauty of a Japanese garden combined with the beautiful presentation of fresh water. The Japanese concept of "WA"or harmony is used to unite the desires of the human spirit with our more mundane requirements of basic needs, such as water, Ying/Yang. Here you are inspired to walk, sit, contemplate, experience tranquility in the beautiful garden. The goal of this beautiful park is to enrich one's spirit, to achieve a state of grace so elusive in our busy modern world. It is to emulate the vision of Buddha seated in the shade of a tree in silent contemplation of the human condition, achieved spiritual enlightenment. I must admit that the views were quite impressive and the tranquility of the place whispered a rare breath of peace, calming my nerves. The entire experience is very Zen and peaceful. I was fascinated by the miniature trees, the Bonsai, along with a large lake, a small waterfall and some geese
