NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, The Department of Religious Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning September 1, 2018 at the rank of Assistant Professor for a specialist in the study of East Asian religions of any period. The department welcomes applicants with diverse research interests, such as classical texts, lived religious practice, material and visual culture, and others. Knowledge of classical Chinese and relevant modern language(s) is preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to engage with questions of theory and method in religious studies as well as contribute to the graduate and undergraduate programs of a religious studies department, including introductory courses in Buddhism and/or East Asian religions.
