USC Annenberg School of Communication

Program
The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, in conjunction with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, allows USC students to study and live in this politically, economically, and culturally unique city. The program offers courses taught in English designed to meet the needs of students from a wide variety of majors and students may receive up to 15 USC units. For further information on the University, please visit the website.

Hong Kong has many culturally and artistically enriching activities, such as art, history and space museums, a professional orchestra, and an annual arts festival. The school is located in the New Territories, a half hour subway ride from the center of Hong Kong.

Curriculum
Courses taught in English are offered in the following fields: Communication, Journalism, English, Fine Arts, History, Japanese Studies, Intercultural Studies, Music, Philosophy, Computer Science, Biology, Anthropology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, International Relations, Public Administration and Psychology. In addition, language classes in Cantonese and Putonghua (Mandarin) are offered.
Communication students can typically earn between 3 to 12 units of upper-division COMM credit. (Students who take Putonghua courses at CUHK can earn a maximum of 9 units of upper-division COMM credit.) There is no guaranteed minimum for approved COMM courses offered at CUHK during any given semester.

Student Life & Activities
Field trips, monthly dinner talks, excursions and other cultural programs, such as the Teaching in China Program in nearby Guangdong province, are offered to international students throughout the year. The student organization called the "I-Club" fosters interaction between international and local students with a number of excursions to Buddhist monasteries, big tourist sites, and trips to Shenzhen' and Macau. Traveling to China and other Asian countries is very convenient, inexpensive, and integral to their educational experience abroad.

Housing
Students live in a dormitory shared with other international, as well as local students. All dormitories have bathroom facilities on each floor and a laundry service in the basement. The dormitories are also cleaned every day by staff. Cooking is not common in the dorms due to the limited kitchen facilities, but there are student dining halls located in each dormitory. Eating out is the most common option, since food is very inexpensive and diverse in Hong Kong.

Admission Requirements
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and minimum sophomore standing at the commencement of the program.
Estimated Costs
The ESTIMATED cost of the program for Spring 2015 is $32,360. This includes tuition, housing, health insurance, round-trip airfare and personal expenses (food, entertainment, weekend travel, etc).
Financial aid and tuition remission may be applied.
