For the Faster students

Might consider taking the students to our local library and have them look at the book mostly because of the pictures.

I appreciate your idea, getting kids to read about Asian culture. Why not have an Asian club that reads exclusively books by Asian authors? In this, they would gain a deep appreciation of their heritage.

This is a great idea! When I taught high school English, I had lots of books readily available for my students to look through, as time permitted, mostly on the time period which we were reading. It is important for students to mentally picture what it is they are studying in order to better understand what the lives were of the people during that time and/or in that culture.

In this modern age of technology, why not simply download a movie or go to youtube to see videos relating to Asian Culture and cuisine?
Whilst I try to keep my children from watching TV... there are some educational programs children can watch, and they also learn faster when they "watch" instead of reading.

I am not against reading at all, in fact we read a lot in our household, at times it's so much better just watching educational programs than reading.
