Investigative journalist and U.S.-China Institute senior fellow Mike Chinoy will visit the University of South Carolina campus for a screening and discussion of Follow the Money, the final episode of his documentary series, Assignment China.

The event is open to the public.  It is jointly sponsored by the School of Journalism and Mass Communications and the Darla Moore School of Business.

Mike Chinoy, a former CNN Beijing bureau chief and Senior Asia Correspondent, is the lead reporter for Assignment China, a 12-part series chronicling the history of American correspondents in China from the 1940s to the present day. Chinoy will join viewers for a screening of the documentary, then discuss the film and take questions from the audience.

The final episode of Assignment China, "Follow the Money," focuses on the behind-the-scenes story of the journalists who during 2012 conducted ground-breaking investigations about China's nouveau riche, and the dramatic, controversial and often frightening consequences. Based on extensive interviews with most of the leading figures involved, the documentary chronicles the emergence of a new kind of journalism that will become increasingly crucial as reporters — and the public at large — seek to understand the dynamics of a new, wealthy and increasingly powerful China.

Follow the Money was produced by the U.S.-China Institute at the University of Southern California.
