Asia Society Southern California is pleased to promote a very special performance on January 2, 2010, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

The Shaanxi Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble is going to create the first classic dance and music program “The Night of Chang’an” for the audience in the United States. The Song and Dance Ensemble gains the ovation from the audience with its splendid elegance of ancient art style. It has toured over 40 countries including the United States, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Brazil, and Japan and has performed for more than 100 foreign government leaders while visiting China.

The Tang dynasty, music and dance inherit the excellence of preceding dynasties, while enhancing it by embracing folk customs that are predominant in the great ancient capital- Chang’an (present date Xi’an). The New Year festival – “The Night of Chang’an” will give the audience a unique opportunity to experience an art form dating back more than 1000 years.
