Exciting collaborations among young Chinese musicians, bridging traditional and contemporary, Chinese and Western, and sound and visual multimedia, are setting a new tone in the world of music. In a discussion moderated by China Institute Director of Arts and Culture Programs France Pepper, composer Huang Ruo talks about integrating Chinese folk songs into Western orchestral music, and Min Xiao-Fen demonstrates how pipa sounds can be adapted to jazz and blues.
